Synth Wizard
Synth Wizard is an electronic music act that specializes in aggressive music that features big synthesizer sounds and analog drum machines.
The wizard AKA James Gideon, also performs in other electronic music acts. He has released experimental electronic music as Mad Science Lab for the past 8 years. James has also worked for several music companies including synthesizer maker E-mu Systems and Universal Audio.
The Synth Wizard uses custom built synthesizers as well as some of his own custom designed effect boxes. The latest track, Alchemy, is a bass heavy Techno track that features some great breakdowns with siren like screams and a no-nonsense approach to Techno. The Wizard keeps it heavy and keeps it simple, and not cluttered with too many distractions from the driving beat.
James also runs the website https://siliconbreakdown.com which for 25 years has featured pictures and sounds of vintage synthesizers. A true lover of analog synthesizers and drum machines he is constantly repairing and restoring vintage gear.
The Synth Wizard’s lair is located in the hills above Santa Cruz, California where he has built a studio to hold his many synthesizers and drum machines. A new EP from the Wizard is scheduled for late 2025 so watch out for more wizardry.
